Vintage Orient Grand Prix 100 jewels Triostat | 1964

€550.00

An opportunity to own a true piece of horological history. Up for sale is a highly collectible and extremely rare vintage Orient Grand Prix 100 Triostat from 1964, originally produced exclusively for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM).

What makes this watch extraordinary?

  • The Peak of the "Jewel War": During the 1960s, Japanese and Swiss watchmakers fiercely competed to showcase engineering supremacy by increasing jewel counts. This Orient stands as a monument to that era, boasting an astonishing 100 functional and decorative rubies in its movement.

  • Premium Case Material: This is not the standard stainless steel model. This specific reference is factory-clad in 14K White Gold Filled (WGF), making it a much scarcer and higher-end variant.

  • Collectible Worth: Excellent and honest examples of this historic reference regularly trade in the €900 – €1,200+ range on the global collector market.

  • Untouched Authenticity: The watch remains unpolished and unrestored, preserving its original factory sharp lines and authentic vintage character.

  • Healthy Movement: Mechanically tested on a timegrapher – the automatic movement is running fairly healthy and keeping time.

Specifications & Features:

  • Brand/Model: Orient Grand Prix 100 Triostat (Ref. S65409), case size ±37mm.

  • Year: Circa 1964

  • Movement: Caliber 660 Automatic, featuring the advanced Triostat regulation system and Incabloc shock protection.

  • Dial: Beautiful original silver sunburst dial with a date window at 3 o'clock and a distinct arched Kanji (Japanese) day-of-the-week display at 6 o'clock.

  • Caseback Provenance: The caseback features a historic corporate presentation engraving: "25?????" (Commemorating 25 Years of Continuous Service). In 1960s Japan, these ultra-luxury flagships were exclusively chosen by major corporations as prestigious lifetime achievement awards.

Condition:

The watch is in honest, good vintage condition. The 14K WGF case and crystal show minor hair scratches consistent with age, retaining a beautiful unpolished charm. The watch runs and operates as it should. It will be shipped on a black leather strap, and I will also include the aged metal bracelet it originally arrived with from Japan.

A fantastic investment piece for any serious vintage Japanese watch enthusiast or a remarkable conversation starter for daily wear. Worldwide tracked shipping available. Please feel free to check out my other listings for more vintage, pre-owned, and new timepieces.

As all vintage pieces - sold "AS IS" without any warranties. They are described best to my abilities upon first inspection, therefore there can be some mistakes.
